I'm taking some time out from blogging to concentrate on my story so I'm going to be positng a lot of videos.. Can't go wrong with this classic rant.
Have you ever felt like doing what he does? I have.
If you've never checked the movie Waking Life out then do so. Loads of little shorts in a similar style about free will, existentialism and dreams.
I enjoyed this film. I'm currently fascinated by Eighteenth Century France in which time this film is set. I found the philisophical position of the film hard to work out just like the causes of the French revolution. The hero is an atheist with a taste for indian spirituality. Kind of like a merger between the enlightenment and romantic view points. Just what France needed at the time. I suppose his fate makes sense from that perspective. Philosophy aside the action kicks ass - check the clip. Also Monica Belluci's character is gorgeous. It's probably a little too long but I'd definately recommend it. I'd like to watch it again and have another go at deciphering the metaphors.
The next day after watching Brotherhood of the Wolf I fancied watching some more of 18th Century France so my girlfiend and I rented Marie Antoinette by Sophia Coppola. Lost in Translation and Virgin Suicides are both slow and evoke luscious moods. Marie Antoinette is slow and devoid of emotion. Ok, I get the point that her life was so full of ceremony that she felt alienated. I just didn't want to share in it. Boring.
